'Stunning precision and musicianship'  David Poulter

*

Welcome to my website.

Organ music has an unrivalled power to thrill and excite, to touch  us and to console. Organ music is the accompaniment to the most joyful and important ceremonies of our lives and those of the nation. It can take us out of ourselves or lead us into the deepest reflection.

People often often ask me how I started to play the organ.

There are organists, singers and other musicians threaded through my family and even today I play some of my pieces from my grandfather's scores,  dog-eared but still going strong after more than 100 years. I started piano lessons at the age of  four  and started organ lessons after joining my local church choir. I have worked with outstanding  teachers including Robert Munns, David Sanger, Stephen Farr, Daniel Moult, David Goode and Dame Gillian Weir.

I held an Organ Scholarship at Trinity College, Oxford whilst taking a degree in English Literature, which  remains a passion together with Manchester United, fountain pens, and Buster, a Norfolk Terrier.

After university I  qualified as a lawyer, developing my concert career alongside my profession as a solicitor  and now a judge. My diplomas include Fellowships of Trinity College, London and the Royal College of Organists.

I hope that I may have the pleasure of playing for you, either in concert or at your special service.
